Autumn Bus Trip 2019

AUTUMN BUS TRIP: SUNDAY 14 APRIL It is a number of years since we have been to gardens at or near Mount Macedon. On this trip the chief attraction will be historic Ard Rudah, which dates from the early 1870s. Baron von Mueller, who was the first director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, was involved in design of the garden. Attractions include mature specimens of copper beech, oak, linden, and ash trees. There is also a lily pond, a maple walk, and extensive use of box hedging. Colour is provided at different times of the year by hellebores, daffodils, azaleas and camellias, peonies, and autumn leaf colour. If we are in luck, and that is a big if owing to parking being limited, we will stop for Stephen Ryan’s nursery and another small one opposite on the main Mount Macedon road. After that we go to a local reserve for lunch, and then visit Peter and Wendy’s garden at the bottom of Mount Macedon. On the way home we detour via Sunbury for local garden club member Cheryl’s garden. Bookings at the February and March monthly meetings. Cost $35 per person.

Contact Geoff for details.
